Spooky Charcuterie & Kitschy Snacks

BY KRISTA ROMAN

Looking for creative ideas to entertain your hungry ghouls and goblins this Halloween season? We scoured the internet to find some dazzling displays that are a tasty treat for your eyes and your stomach.

Delectable Snacks - No bones about it!

On a board or tray of your choosing, mix a selection of your favorite treats. Be sure to offer guests a variety of sweet and salty options. Pay attention to color and implement shades of the seasons. Grapes make for a seasonal sensation in shades of deep purple and bewitching Bordeaux. Use the rim of a glass to craft floral blooms out of salami. Add simple bones or other Halloween props to give the board an added touch of spookiness.

Rest in Pieces

Place your snacks on a board or tray in the shape of a coffin to add a hint of creepiness to your Halloween display. If you don’t have this particular shape, craft one by making a border out of crackers or cookies. Other fun and easy shapes to take your seasonal charcuterie to the next level include pumpkins or a witch’s hat.

Traditional Black & Orange

When baking a batch of cookies, use orange M&Ms or a similar style of candy to add a pop of color that screams Halloween! On your next trip to the grocery store, keep an eye out for colorful sprinkles or any other snack that is stocked for the season. Whole Foods’ 365 brand has a fantastic deep blue tortilla chip that displays perfectly during this time of year. Think outside of the box: simple produce like oranges look fabulous in a black ceramic bowl.

Frightful Foraging

Take an autumnal walk and keep your eyes open for any gifts from nature. Monkey balls, the lime green fruit (NOT edible for humans!), are ideal for displaying as a centerpiece. The spooky spheres pair perfectly with skeletons and other haunting decor.

Cheesy & Cheerful

No charcuterie board would be complete without a selection of delectable cheeses. Thinly slice a few pieces of cheese and use a cookie cutter to create holiday shapes. Get even more creative and form iconic Halloween images with complementary foods like berries or other fruits.
