Broadway is tone deaf

On Friday, November 18, Vice President Elect Mike Pence attended a performance of the hit Broadway musical “Hamilton”, where he was booed by the audience and lectured by the cast.

The Mainstream Media, predictably, gushed.  I, on the other hand, was bewildered and amused by the Regressive Left’s complete lack of irony.

Here we have a theater full of people who could afford to pay over a grand per ticket for a 3-hour show booing a politician who won his office due to the support of the working class.  Then a bunch of actors in a show with arguably discriminatory casting practices proceed to school Pence on the merits of diversity.

They need to be careful not to choke on their Dom Perignon while patting themselves on the back.

It's true that Pence spent much of his career in opposition to gay marriage. But that wasn’t his main appeal to the voters in Rust Belt states that were solidly behind President Obama in 2008 and 2012.  It was Pence's economic accomplishments as governor of Indiana, and his expressions of compassion toward people for whom taking their family to dinner and a movie is a rare luxury.

But Broadway doesn’t get that and neither do the Limousine Liberals in the audience. They don’t realize that, to many disgruntled Americans, their tunes sound like nails on a blackboard.
