Leaf Peeping: The most glorious shades of burnt orange, vibrant yellow and deep red make up the cornucopia of colors that we witness during the fall season. Take a walk through your local park or if changing leaves aren't a major thing in your area, plan a weekend trip to visit one of our country's many beautiful regions that feature the season in all its glory.
Pumpkin Patch: Head to your favorite farm to pick prize-winning pumpkins. Many businesses offer hayrides, live music and other family friendly activities; be sure to plan ahead and check their online calendar of events. After you choose your produce, extend the fun with an evening of carving jack-o-lanterns, roasting seeds in the oven and decorating your pumpkins.
Football Game: Support your local high school, college or alma mater by attending a game. Check the schedule to see when Homecoming is set and put on your school colors. Tailgate with your best game day treats for your favorite NFL team or buy tickets to an away game for an exciting weekend in a new city.
Hiking: Get in some exercise and take in the beauty of nature during one of the best times of the year. Find a trail that's local to you or take a drive and make a day trip out of your autumnal adventure.
Bonfire: Gather friends and family around the bonfire, roast marshmallows and share your spookiest ghost stories. Is there a better way to spend a crisp fall evening under the stars?
Harvest Party: Whether it's a Friendsgiving feast or just a simple get-together during the harvest season, plan a special night with your loved ones. Enjoy a glass of red wine and seasonal foods and make lasting memories.
Decorate: Add a touch of fall to your home with seasonal decorations. Wreaths, flannel blankets, decorative throw pillows, and candles are just a few simple ways to implement decor into the fall season. Take it up a notch and go all out for Halloween with skeletons, witches, ghosts and jack-o-lanterns. Tip: Falloween is definitely a thing. Rather than taking down fall decorations to make room for Halloween props, group the two types of decor as they seamlessly blend so well together.
Visit a Haunted House: Check out one of the haunts in your area for a frightfully good time. If waiting in line for lengthy stretches isn't your thing, many haunted houses offer fast passes. Be sure to research the best spots in your region as it's becoming more popular for venues to host live music, dining, beer gardens, carnival games, hayrides, corn mazes, and fun for people of all ages. If haunts aren't your thing but you'd still like to try something spooky, murder mystery nights and historic ghost tours are another fantastic option during the witching season.
Scary Movie Night: Host a scary movie night at home with friends and family. Whether you enjoy thrillers, Zombie flicks, horror films or just a creepy plot, get the popcorn ready and have some fun with cinema. Break out the projector and plan an outdoor party if that's an option. If you haven't been to the theater in ages, check to see if any classics are playing at the local screens. Independent theaters and other performing arts venues often feature special events during this time of the year as do many parks. Be sure to check out Frank's Halloween movie picks for ideas on what to watch and stay tuned in 2025 for the exclusive Quite Frankly Film Club!
Vote: Vote early and often...or be traditional and get to the polls on November 5th to cast your vote for the 47th president of the United States! Your civic duty matters.
Scenic Drive: Take a scenic drive to your favorite place in the region and enjoy all the area has to offer. Breathe in fresh air, take in the sights, colors and sounds of the season and practice gratitude for all the beauty this life affords. It's the simple pleasures in life that bring us the most joy. Take a moment to reflect on the year that has been, the upcoming holiday season and the new year that awaits.
